Matt 24: 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
This is a Literal Biblical description of Christ coming, tied to an event, the END of the Tribulation. If he were going to describe his coming at the end, and he were coming before hand to save His people, would He not have said so just as literally?

1 Cor 15: 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Another description literally told in the Bible, as we have heard the Rapture described including the famous catch phrase, "In the twinkling of an eye". This one is tied to the event of the sound of the last trump. In Revelation, the last trump is the beginning of the end of Satans rule, as this marks the outpouring of The Wrath of God near the end of the Tribulation.

I'm not one to try to take Gods word and say it means something it doesn't, if taken literally the only descriptions of a Rapture taking place and literally tied to an event are similar to the ones above, and they all point to a post trib or pre wrath event. Jesus said we would be hated by the world because we are not of this world, he also asked that His disciples not be taken away from the earth, but that they be protected from the evil.  Noah was not raptured from the earth during gods wrath of the flood, but Noah and his family were protected.
