Where did the Pre-tribulation rapture originate? It originated in 1830 in Scotland by Margaret Macdonald. Margaret was not a theologian or Bible expositor but was a prophetess in the Irvingite sect. Does this mean it is not true? No, but may make it somewhat suspect, in light of the fact that many brilliant theologians for a period of 18 centuries did not notice this pre-tribulation rapture. Again, this doesn't mean it isn't true, but most people do not even realise that the Pre-Tribulation rapture was unheard of until the 19th century.

Unless you have studied very thuroughly all the arguments for and against the different views, do not stand on any Doctrine because someone or a group of people have told you so. Most of the Scribes and Pharisees were wrong, and they were the Scriptural experts. If you have thuroughly studied, with an open mind, all of the arguments and see the value of each in comparison to the value of our Salvation through Faith in Jesus Christ, there is only one Truthful obsevation that we can all know for sure, and that is, God will do things in His time and in His way.

The Pre-tribulation Rapture has had some benefits, it spurred a Large Christian revival in this country, and may be one of the leading factors in a lot of peoples lives to turn to Christ. In turn many of these people may have come to find the true Salvation through the acceptance of Christ. By the same token the Pre-Trib doctrine could have a very adverse effect if it doesn't happen and lots of dismayed and broken hearted Christians are standing wondering why. Will they turn back and listen to those who said they wouldn't be here in the first place?

Here are a few verses upon which I base my thoughts:

Matt 24: 23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Jesus is speaking to his followers, Revelation speaks of the great deception... DURING the Tribulation, therefore his followers must still be present on earth.
