Earthquakes in Prophecy
by Dan Dunkin

Explanation:
Jesus mentioned earthquakes as a sign of the times. In Matthew 24:7 Jesus says:
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
The Holy Bible : King James Version. 1995
This passage is verified in Mark 13:8 and again in Luke 21:11. In Luke's version he goes on to say GREAT earthquakes, not just earthquakes.

Many end time writers and others have determined this as meaning MORE earthquakes, but this is clearly NOT what Jesus said, however this does not mean there will or won't be more earthquakes.

There is a lot to be considered here, especially if looking at the nature of earthquakes, and the advancement of our scientific ability to measure and locate earthquakes and their epicenters. Clearly during the times of Christ and the start of the new church, there could have been vast numbers of earthquakes in the America's and no one would know anything about it. There could have been earthquakes in Africa, in the area's now known as China and Russia, and it is very likely it would have gone unnoticed. Today, we can see, and know world wide within minutes of a major earthquake almost anywhere in the world, and it becomes common news around the globe. Could it be that this very science we have developed and the global communications network may be a part of the prophecy Jesus spoke of? Due to the science itself we now have fulfillment of this prophecy in that suddenly we now know about earthquakes in many places, however I believe this prophecy goes much deeper than this, and I also believe a key to this prophecy will be found in Deuteronomy.
